1. When do you recommend spaying / neutering my puppy or kitten?

We recommend having your puppy or kitten spayed at six months.

2. What would you recommend to treat fleas and ticks?

We recommend Sentinel for heartworm and parasite protection.  Our doctors believe Sentinel to be the best parasite protection for your dog.  It prevents heartworm disease, provides intestinal parasite protection from hookworms, roundworms and whipworms and is a flea preventative.

Interceptor and Frontline are alternatives to Sentinel.

We recommend Revolution for your cat as it prevents heartworms and most intestinal parasites and prevents your cat from getting fleas and ear mites.

For tick prevention we recommend Frontline.

3. Do you offer euthanasia/cremation services?

In the unfortunate event that you need to euthanize your pet, we do offer that service, in addition to cremation and the return of ashes.  If you are not a client, we will request that you schedule an office visit with a one of our doctors to evaluate your pet’s condition.

4. Do you offer payment plans?

Payment is requested at the time of service.  However in the unfortunate instance that you are unable to pay your bill, we do offer Care Credit. We also accept cash, checks, and major credit cards.

5. Do you carry/stock food for my cat / dog?

6. May I purchase a dog license from the clinic?

It is a law to have your dog licensed at the age of 12 weeks.  We do sell dog licenses.  We also offer HomeAgain micro chips.  This tiny chip is safe and reliable and will help you find your pet if lost.

7. Would you call another pharmacy for me to pick up my medication?

We will call the pharmacy of your choice with your pet’s prescription. We also have a full-service pharmacy in the Outpatient area of the clinic.

8. What vaccines does my cat / dog need?

Dogs:

DHPPP – 1st vaccine and every three weeks through 16 weeks of age

DHPP1 – after 16 weeks/booster in 1 year

DHPP2 – after DHPP1 / booster in 2 years

DHPP3 – after DHPP2/ booster in 3 years

RAB1 – after 12 weeks of age / booster in 1 year

RAB3 – given after RAB 1 / booster in 3 years

BORD – after 8 weeks of age / booster initially 3 weeks apart / booster in 6 months if frequent boarder/booster in one year

HWN/LYM/EHR – annual Heartworm/Lyme/Ehrlichia

Cats:

DRCK – 1st vaccine and every 3 weeks through 16 weeks of age

DRC1 – after 16 weeks / booster in 1 year

DRC3 – after DRC1 / booster in 3 years

RABF – after 12 weeks / booster in 1 year

9. How often do you recommend my pet see a veterinarian?

For dogs and cats under the age of seven, we recommend once a year.  For pets over seven, we recommend every six months.

10. Why do I need to bring a stool sample?

A stool sample allows us to check for intestinal parasites.  Some intestinal parasites cause zoonotic diseases which can harm the human members of your family.
