Puppy Socialization Classes

Puppy Socialization Classes are offered for any breed of puppy between the ages of 7-14 weeks. Classes are five-weeks long and include an orientation to training techniques, normal dog behavior and communication and “The Secret to Training.”

The class curriculum addresses:

  • Correcting common behaviors such as jumping up, play biting and pulling on the leash
  • House training
  • Crate training
  • Introduction to basic obedience commands
  • Introduction to “strange” objects, noises and costumes
  • Off-leash puppy play time

Obedience I

The Obedience I Classes are offered to dogs of any age with no or minimal obedience experience. The basic household obedience skills, such as:

  • Heel
  • Sit
  • Down
  • Come
  • Stay
  • Leave it

Obedience II

The Obedience II Classes are offered for any dogs that have mastered Obedience I or an equivalent course.  The classes run for five weeks and take obedience training to the next level while incorporating obedience into day-to-day living. Skills such as sit, down, heel, leave it, come and finish are covered while adding distractions and working off leash.

Clicker Training

The Clicker Training Classes offered to any age dog with some knowledge of obedience. Classes are five-weeks long and include an orientation to the theory and concepts of using a clicker to train your dog. The class teaches techniques to encourage positive behaviors that are re-enforceable. Clicker training is a new, positive approach to basic skills, as well as any other fun tricks you want to teach your dog.

AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program SM / Canine Good Citizen®

The S.T.A.R. program, a modified version of the CGC program for dogs is offered for dogs under the age of 1 year.   It’s a great way to prepare for the CGC Program!  The Canine Good Citizen Classes are offered for dogs of any age. The American Kennel Club Good Citizen program is designed to encourage owners to train their dogs to be “good citizens.” This class runs for five weeks ending with the Canine Good Citizen Test. The test has 10 exercises that are scored pass/fail and need to be passed in order to become a Canine Good Citizen. The classes cover the individual exercises which include sitting politely to be petted, walking on a loose leash, reactions to people and other dogs, etc. The Canine Good Citizen is AKC regulated and information is available at www.akc.org.  Check our pricing page for tuition.

Private Consultations
